Maybe it was the song playing on the radio when you shared your first kiss, maybe it was the music in the restaurant when he proposed, maybe it’s an old standard from the favorite movie you’ve watched together a million times…whatever the source, chances are, you may already have your first dance song picked out.
But if there’s not a song you feel just screams “US” – here’s a list to get you started.
And the father-daughter dance? Ask your dad what he would like! Even if he feigns indifference – he’s looking forward to this part of the event more than you know. As for the mother-son dance, ask your hubby-to-be if there is a song that is special to him and his mother, and let the two of them decide on something together. This is a great way to score brownie points with your future MIL. Inviting her input will go a long way.
And one more thing, this is an opportunity to really show off your skills if your soon-to-be hubby has indulged you in those ballroom dancing lessons. But if you’re not one for cutting up a rug, never fear, the first dance is meant to be sweet and sentimental – and you’re guests aren’t going to mind if you don’t know a tango from a two-step.
