So, a little about me – I recently celebrated 12 years of near bliss (he’s still learning) with my one true love, and as we popped that bottle of champagne to celebrate, it got me thinking…
I know, I know, my beautiful brides, your heads are already spinning with every minute detail of your upcoming nuptials and far be it from me, the wedding planner, to add one more sliver of stress to your shoulders – however, there are a few things you will truly want to think about now to ensure that first anniversary is just as memorable as your wedding day. Trust me, you’ll thank me later.
Save the Best for Last
Freezing the top tier of your wedding cake is not as intimidating as it sounds. Click here for a full tutorial on the best way to save and enjoy the best bites one year later.
Better with Age
Of course, what better way to enjoy your cake than to serve it with a glass of vino saved from your reception? Let’s face it, you’re probably not going to enjoy much of that wine on your wedding day anyway – you’ll be too busy posing for pictures, dancing with all of your guests, and letting your new husband admire you. Save a bottle and tuck it away to toast a successful first year together!
For Better, For Worse
Save a copy of your vows, look into each others eyes, and say them all over again. It might bring a few sentimental tears, and perhaps even a few giggles, but this is a perfectly romantic way to remind each other that you’re still in this together.
And Now, for the Gifts!
I’m not saying you have to exchange gifts, but my goodness, an anniversary is as good a reason as any to encourage a little present-opening, right, ladies? Click here for a list of traditional and modern suggestions, year by year.
